This is the first mystery novel I have ever read. Crazy right! I did my first buddy read with my mother and sent her a list of books that she would be interested in reading and she chose this mystery novel. I’m glad she did, my mother has good taste. For the buddy read we read one chapter a day and we would Facetime each other to discuss the book. The book was so good that we had to read two chapters a day. This book is the reason why I’m getting more into mystery novels now.

This book surprised me not once, not twice but more than three times. I love stories like this because I had no clue where this story was going and I say that in a good way where the mystery was real in this story. The author did a wonderful job putting everything together.

We start with a young girl named Naomi Pine who is a teen that gets bullied in high school, one day she goes missing out of nowhere. Her high school classmate Matthew is very concern for her and reaches out to his grandmother who is a sensational television lawyer name Hester Crimstein.

Hester reaches out to a man name Wilde for assistance on finding this girl. Wilde’s back story was that he was found as a little boy in the woods decades ago. He has no memory of what happened to him and how he got there. Now as an adult Wilde lives in a little house in the woods. Wilde and Hester try to locate the girl and things start to get a little insane if that’s even the right word to use for this.

I really had a hard time putting this book down. I was not expecting some of the events that happen in the book, I would think to myself what could possibly happen and I was wrong about it. I love that feeling when you try to piece the mystery to yourself but you end up being wrong. I always had watch mystery movies and shows but never a book and it’s so much better to read a mystery novel than to watch in my opinion.

The ending was great. I absolutely love the ending. What a great way to end this story. There is so much to this story, without giving away to much it leads to another mystery to another mystery than the end of the story it just all spills out.

Hester is my top favorite character. She’s such a headstrong woman who knows what she is doing. All the characters are great in here. I know I had to take notes to keep up with the new characters popping up threw out the story.

From the very beginning to the end the story was well written and put together very nicely. A great read for you to fully understand whats going on. I will be looking more into this author and reading his other novels.

Ready to solve the mystery?
